Child Development Associate (CDA)

When you’re ready to show your competence as an early childhood professional, the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is a great place to begin.  Our instructors provide students with the latest in child development research, paired with “how to’s” that make application to the classroom a snap.  Students leave our classes with completed resource files, 120 hours of training, and their formal observation finished. . . as a CDA Candidate who is ready to apply to the Council for Professional Recognition for their final assessment.

Receiving a CDA demonstrates a child care professional’s ability to meet the specific needs of children to nurture their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework. A CDA candidate would also demonstrate competence in her/his ability to meet the CDA Competency Goals through her/his work in a center-based, home visitor or family child care program. To date, there are more than 150,000 CDAs across the country in all 50 states, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. territories of Guam and the Virgin Islands.

The Credential is awarded for three child care settings: 1) Center-based, for which Candidates receive endorsements to work with infants and toddlers or preschool children; 2) Family Child Care; and 3) Home Visitor

When you join an Early Connections CDA class, you’ll receive expert instruction from start to finish, and be ready to apply to the Council for your certification, even if you haven’t taken a test since high school!!  And if you need extra assistance, you’ll find our CDA Review sessions open for you to attend at no extra charge, even if your class has already completed!

Our payment plans make the CDA affordable, too!
